B2B PR That Gets Results
Michelle Garrett
This book was a thoroughly enjoyable read from start to finish. I come from a marketing consultancy background, so I have needed to perform PR tasks on several occasions, but never in depth. I purchased the book to get a better understanding of PR so I can improve my skills in that area.
I was really impressed with B2B PR That Gets Results because it was easy to read and went into enough detail whilst remaining user friendly. Michelle delivers practical examples of PR obstacles and challenges of working with key stakeholders within organisations that actually tally up to some of my real-world experiences. There’s even a whole chapter on working with a legal department which I can imagine must be frustrating! She then offers solutions, some of which I’d learned the hard way and others I wish I’d known at the time.
B2B PR That Gets Results could actually be used as a textbook in a university course. It’s full of references to all of the sources used so you can go in-depth and learn more about any points of interest you have. From the writing style, I also think Michelle would make a great lecturer leading a whole semester herself, if not a single guest lecture on a specific topic.
I’d recommend this book for anyone who’d like to start a career in PR or as required reading for those who have just started or are around the mid level of their career. If you’re being asked to take on PR duties at work or manage a PR agency or work with them as the in-house contact, you also need to buy this book.

Social Media Accounts to Follow
Note: In my opinion, Twitter is a depreciated asset. I no longer visit as often as I used to and the social media platform in know called X. X, formerly known as twitter is the way it’s described by many people nowadays and although it may still be a popular place for breaking news, I cannot verify if the influencers below still use X as often as they did when it was called Twitter.
As time goes on, I will remove the social media influencers and industry bodies whose X accounts I have recommended partly because I don’t use the platform as often and also because viewing their accounts seems to require the visitor to also have an account on X. Looking for marketing resources only to be faced with a for to log in or sign up is not a good experience for my users, so those X links will be replaced.
